OVERALL = C
THP has a very good reputation here in the area. My wife and I bought one of their townhomes late in 2003. They finished in time and at a reasonable price. It came with a 2yr warranty, 10yr structure warranty, and 6mo and 1yr walk-thru/fix-ups.
DESIGN = C
The internal townhouse design is ok. Its small but functional. Our deck is positioned awkwardly next to our neighbors and THP will not redo it for us. This is the main reason why I give them a C overall. The furnace/heat pump is placed in the basement in a way that limits your basement finishing ideas. Wirings are messy in the attic. They didnt take the time to staple it in areas where someone doesnt have to step on it. The pavement on the internal road is about 1.5 lower than our sidewalk/driveway so I always hit a bump when I drive in to the garage (although they say they will fixed this in summer 2005, we'll see).
SELECTION/CONTRACTORS = C
Selection was good compared to other builders. They give you an allowance for lighting, but they did not have a lot of affordable contemporary look. (contractor name) kitchen cabinets is an excellent company. Great people and service. (contractor name) Carpeting sucked! Their salesperson was deceiving. THP used Kohler for the bathroom fixtures which was a great choice. The lawncare contractor is awful. The first summer, the grass was already drying up and they placed grass by the flowerbed.
TITLE COMPANY = D
Their title company was really dissapointing as she did not even research for our best interests. We ended up with PHFA, a state discount that she didnt want to look into for us so I had to do my own research.
SALES = B
Sales guy was great. He explained everything well and did not force us on anything. Very knowledgable.
FIXUPS/MAINTENANCE = B
Their scheduling is great. No problems with that. They are prompt and the workers that come in do their job are friendly and courteous.
