Quality not important to US HOMES

The quality of this home including, but not limited to, paint, carpet, cabinets, installation of interior doors, closet doors, electrical, plumbing, tile, and interior construction are poor. We feel they did the bare minimum to slide by. They are not a company that prides themselves on their craftsmanship or quality. However, they enjoy charging for it. A small child that walks upstairs sounds like elephants to anyone downstairs. That is because the of the cheap materials, and no screws were used in places to avoid wood moving causing exessive creaks in the flooring. US HOMES came out one time to "fix" the squeeks in the upstairs flooring. I'm certain it was an expensive process for them, however, they didn't complete task in all rooms effected by squeeks. - Cheap caulking was used in all the bathrooms which peeled up before we had lived here for 3 months. We asked them to do something and they did. They used the same cheap stuff as before and told us to expect peeling -- and for us to replace it next time. - Rocks in our grout - nails protruding thru the drywall leaving holes in the walls and ceilings - inadequate wire length provided to install exterior lighting - cheap cheap cheap (like $6) light fixtures in the common areas - no light fixtures in bedrooms - no fixture outlets in any secondary bedroom closets - incredibly small laundry room for a house of 5 bedrooms - they didn't think out the kitchen layout well, there is no adequate counterspace - smooshed eating area in the kitchen combined with a congestion problem with backyard exit right at the eating area - front door handle is cheap and doesn't close without the assistance of the deadbolt - all drains run slow as if clogged, we've tried to fix them many times - inadequate water pressure - water company has tested and claims it is a problem on the interior of the house since the exterior supply runs to code - sloppy work throughout, paint stains on the paver drive from workers, overspray (paint) on all the carpets, all cuts made short were gooped with caulk in windowsills and trims Bottom line is, they don't care. We do have a list of things we are happy with. - Near an incredible school - Shopping is up and coming - Nice floorplan (5/3/3 +bonus room 3210 sf)) it flows nicely from room to room - hurricane resistant garage door (we live in FL) - Tall front door (9ft) - High ceilings throughout - 9+ft - Impressive entry - Easy to find neighborhood - Nice sized yard compared to other neighborhoods We're staying .... but we will have to do some major repairs and upgrades to turn this house into a home. Not easy to do when you pay $400K for house.
