Contacting Meadows Homes to find out the status of your home's progress or finding out an estimated completion date is next to impossible. The completion of our home does not seem to be in sight even though they have all admitted it should have been completed months ago. On average it will be 3 weeks between times when a subcontractor shows up. When they do perform work they typically damage something else. Work is performed out of order with normal construction. Ex: Doing touch up painting on the interior when defects in the drywall still need to be fixed. They are now on the sixth time of reframing the master jacuzzi bathtub. They frame and tile the area, place the tub in to find out it does not fit. This results in another 3 weeks until someone comes out to only rip out the framing and another 3 weeks for them to reframe. There are many defects in the home that could be completed in a few days time. However, the home still sits idle. Meadows themselves told me I needed to buy a builder's risk policy. When I read my contract and realized they are responsible for the cost, they refuse to refund my $905 dollars I paid up front. (Even when I suggested and option of doing this that would have saved them $76) A previous construction manager told me there should be no problem moving in by the time school started (first week of August). It is now the first week of November and there is no completion date in sight. I am up to $1250/month on my construction loan and the house has been sitting idle with only a few days left of work. I was just charged a $500 fee for extending my construction loan for only 2 months. Meadows also refuses to reimburse me this cost. What was a good deal on purchasing this home has quickly become a financial burden due to their incompetence. At one point in the beginning phases of construction I would have recommended Meadows Homes to anyone, whereas now I would not recommend them to my enemy.
