My building experience was a complete nightmare. We made several changes to the floorplan, and the mistakes started with the pouring of the slab. It progressed from there with having the wrong elevation of my home built. The grout for my tile is different colors throughout the house and they have yet to fix it after 2 years. Also there is already cracked grout on my bathroom floor.

We only saw the builder once. After the contract was signed we never saw him again. We only talked him once more after the contract was signed. The Real Estate Agent, was incorrect about who determines the location of the electric meters. The Builder, after agreeing to provied a cost for extra sq.ft, poured the slab before providing the cost. Then attempted to make us pay a cost that was acceptable to him. The tile floor had to be put in three times and now has some tiles that sound hollow. They say that hollow sounding tiles are ok. The warranty people are very slow and the Warrranty Superintedent will seldomly return your calls. It was 6 months past the one year warranty period before everything was done. It took them 9 months to supply a silverware basket for the dishwasher (this was within the warranty though). The Appliance store said they could mail it to me in 4 days. The flooring people took over 6 months past the one year warranty and at least 4 missed appointments before they repaired the cracked tiles. Twice they came to the house and left, but they did not return. It took 4 months past the warranty period to get shower drain screws that would not rust. I must mention that the building Superintendent, who I believe is overworked, was nice to work with. I hope that this information will allow other people to make an informed decision about Carlex Homes Inc.
