Our Ryland home is almost eight years old, and has some of the little "not-quite-perfectly-square-issues', but other than that, it's well built. After hearing some of the nightmare stories, I feel lucky to have a home that doesn't have cracks in all the walls. There were many things that came up the first year and we were very picky and made them fix every little thing - which they did. They never said it wasn't their problem, or treated us poorly. The home was ready early and they even waited for a few weeks to close, as we were waiting on funds. We are now purchasing our next, larger home, and did look into the Ryland homes in the neighborhood... they just didn't have a plan that we liked.

I am the owner of a 3 year old townhome in Greatwood (Sugar Land). The words I would like to use to discribe this construction/materials of this home are not very polit. Every aspect of this homes construction is very poor quality and has no lasting ability. The resale value is very bad. That is, if you are honest. The construction super's biggest concern was to get the house finised so he could receive his commision by Christmas. I am paying the price Have uncovered several disceptive trade conditions with materials. Recomendations for prospective Ryland buyers is to 'RUN FAST' and don't look back.

I bought a Ryland Home in Mason Lakes subdivision. I strongly agree with the above comments. My home has MANY sheetrock cracks that the builder says is normal. My home is currently only six months old. There are sheetrock cracks in every corner. In the master bedroom the cealing is cracked from corner to corner. The builder says they will come out to fix it but this situation does not look good for a home to be shifting this much this soon. The fence they put up around the home has many warped and split stakes. I have a hard time opening and closing my gate. I can grab ahold of the fence and shake it back and forth with my hands. The builder said " its the best we can do".

The quailty of materials and labor were terrible. The builder's philosphy was to cover up mistakes before the homeowner could see them. We had to go by the house everyday to check up on promises.
