If you are looking for a newly built home fast- Triple Crown is the way to go. Quality- is another issue. What attracted me initially is not having to deal with the traditional construction loan. Triple Crown only required a deposit. The initial building process went very smoothly. We signed a contract in Feb. and by late Aug- our home was complete. There are some quality defects that I would like to note. FLOOR CREAKING! Triple Crown was quick to point out that in the initial warranty, some floor creaking was to be expected. However, the creaking is clearly unreasonable and just flat-out annoying. Clearly, the creaking is a result of the sheet rock not being properly nailed to the floors. Don't vacuum your laminate floors either. They are not glued entirely to the floors and are only glued on the edges. Their plumbers are lazy as well...

There are some workmanship flaws including cabinets, fixtures, flooring, drywall tape is visible, numerous screws and nails are misplaced and/or crooked. The tub and kitchen counter have problems at the joint between the appliance and the wall, they are slowly turning into gaps.

My experience with this builder was nothing but positive. My home was complete before my contract date, and it was quite exciting watching how fast my home was built. Everyday someone was there working and keeping my home moving forward. The on-site superintendent was courteous and professional, paying close attention to detail and answering all my questions. There was minimal service after I took occupancy and they were very responsive and polite when dealing with my isssues.

Triple Crown Corporation of Harrisburg, PA Summary of our experience with this builder: The lack of quality workmanship and attention to detail is what you can expect from this builder. There is very little oversight. Your investment is not protected unless you are at the site pointing out every problem yourself. The home owner is expected to be the quality control and then to direct the builder as to how to fix the problems. The following list reflects just some of the problems we have experienced: A wet wall was built too small to accommodate the water pipe. Their solution was to ?bow the drywall? around the pipe. They said they do it all the time. When we brought it to their attention it took over two weeks for a feeble response of ?we will notch the drywall?. When we said this was unacceptable, they said they would add another layer of drywall. But they only did it to one side of the wall. Exterior double doors added in the walk out basement are backwards. The weather stripping is on the inside; the doors are not secure and can be opened from the outside when they are locked. Rain pours in and forms a puddle in the basement. They can?t figure out what to do. For five months, we continued to insist they were backwards, while 4 different vendors were out to look at the problem. Meanwhile, we continued to have water in the basement and our safety compromised as the doors were not secure. The vinyl flooring in the laundry room was selected to match the ceramic tile in the kitchen so the look would be seamless where the two meet. They do not match, and the laundry floor was not raised to match the kitchen to make the transition seamless. They finally agreed to reinstall the vinyl to match the ceramic tile. However, they kept the schedule moving (which is their #1 priority) and installed the baseboard before the new vinyl was installed. It was installed up to the baseboard, and quarter round was placed around the room to hide the edge of the vinyl. Now the laundry room that we spent extra $$ on looks like a poorly done amateur addition, which is typical of their work. The builder used our furnace during winter construction and took no measures to provide filtration. Our furnace and electronic air cleaner are caked with dust and drywall. We had it inspected independently and asked that they clean the furnace and the duct work. They only agreed to clean the furnace and then come back in thirty days and re-inspect. Overall, several doors in the house were not squared when they were hung and have had to be reinstalled or have been repaired by us. Trim on the outside of the house is already falling off. The back deck is falling apart and will need to be rebuilt. We made it clear in the beginning we did not want the house and driveway lower than the sidewalk. Due to their lack of oversight, or just plain incompetence we now have a driveway that slopes down and forms a puddle in front of the garage door. At settlement, the lot was left with rebar, concrete, rocks, and broken glass at our entry where windows were broken out during construction. We had to submit a service request to have the lot cleaned up and these dangerous items removed. The builder was apparently going to cover this debris with what they call top soil.
