When I found this spec home it was to be completed in 2 weeks. I asked for a few more prior to closing in order to sell mine first, which they agreed to and it gave them even more time than they needed to make sure everything was completed. I've found several minor defects but what has caused me the most inconvenience over the last 2 weeks was leaks in the roof - holes that they missed left by the workers and their anchors. If anyone had ever inspected the roof they would have been easily seen. I had water in my ceiling, walls and hardwood floors (in an area that I had just redone the floors and in many areas where I had just painted). It will be 2 weeks in 2 days since I found the soaked carpet and walls and the builder started to send in people to inspect, tear down, dry out (with very noisy fans and dehumidifiers for over a week)) then start rebuilding. I've yet to get the walls and floors done and know that will be at least another week. I'm living in a total mess, with men in and out of the house all hours of the day. We had previously found that the hardwood floors, which I reported not looking "finished" and had been scratched by the late-arriving appliance deliveries had never had the final coat applied. How an inspection could have missed this is also beyond me. The builder rep is doing her best to get things fixed but I must still stay on top of everyone every day to keep things moving and done even close to my satisfaction. I would never have purchased this home had I known what I was in for. The careless nature in which it was thrown together and passed off as "finished" or "new" makes me fear what other hidden defects will be found later. I went straight to the CEO of the builder for help as his underlings obviously didn't care about quality and he should know (if he didn't already) about these problems. I recommend everyone do this.
