Shumaker is the absolute worst builder I have ever experienced. STAY AWAY! Our $270,000 house has a severe mold problem and it is only 6 months old. They never answer the phone when you have a problem. It's impossible to get anything fixed and the entire company is full of liars. I can't stress enough the problems we have had with this builder.

Builder was very unresponsive to warranty items such as leaking roofs/windows that took nearly 6 months to have someone repair despite numerous contacts and reports to them, meanwhile mold has grown in and on our walls. Other important warranty repairs were never taken car of such as damaged wood floors from leaking toilet, damaged counter tops from their installers, AC unit that does not work properly and needs replacing Warranty department was and has been unresponsive to date correcting building defects clearly covered under warranty. We have been very disappointed with their attitude and approach to handling customer needs, especially considering the size of investment entrusted to them. Based on our experience you may be ok if you do not encouter any problems, however, if you do you are clearly on your own. Might not be a big deal if you got a bad meal or service somewhere, but not with a house. I would encourage prospective buyers to check with the BBB, department of consumer affiars and other customers before signing any contracts with these guys. They simply cannot be trusted to take care their end of the contract regarding the largest investment of your life. In our case it will cost us a significant amount of money and time to wright wrongs that any honest business person would gladly take care of a long time ago. I would also encourage prospective buyers to evaluate their adherance to building codes with a construction specialist, specifically, building a house to minimum code. They do not use "tyvek" home wrap on their homes. Make sure you understand what this means to you short and long term as a home owner. I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what we have. Buyer beware.
