I?ve lived at my Beazer home for 4 months going on 5 and I?ve already found multiple defects. I would have liked to have seen the house getting built but I was away for nearly 2 months on a business trip and wasn?t able to see the house getting built. Problem started with the initial inspection before closing. We?ve founded multiple problems which we pointed out and about half were fixed. On the day of moving in, the garage was dusty and wasn?t cleaned at all, trash all over the garage. The basement was the same scenario. The house wasn?t cleaned at all. There were dusts all over the kitchen, laundry room and the bathrooms. I wasn?t sure how clean the carpet was so I used my $60 vacuum cleaner and was surprised to found lots of dirt and even picked up a bend nail. Around the edges of the carpet were filled with dry wall dust and there were dried up paint spots all over the place.
Some of the things that Beazer does simply doesn?t make sense at all. The rocks in the front yard are not well balanced where there are spots where there are no rocks at all and told me to fix it myself. The side of the house has a slope and the rocks simply fall down where you can see the exposed landscaping paper and was told it was my problem to deal with. The box for the sprinkler is located in the front yard where it can be damaged by vandals. Beazer didn?t give me anything for backyard and so if I?m going to finish the backyard will it not make sense to put the box in the backyard?!?! And the water faucet for the house is on the other side of the driveway. I need super long hose to do any sort of car washing and etc. The house proclaims to have computer network throughout the house. In the ?comm closet? none of the cat 5 wires were fitted with plugs leaving the owner to do the rest. It took me 30 minutes and tool that I had to borrow from a friend. It doesn?t make sense. And to do any networking you need power source for your router or switch near the ?comm closet? but they have only one power outlet no where near the ?comm closet? and Beazer had the nerves to put an uninstalled spare power outlet by my box which infuriated me even more. I?ve started to finish the basement at the 3rd month mark and where they put the rough in plumbing doesn?t make sense at all. If they?re going to put in anything, why not make it user friendly? Talk about bad information. Talking to the sales rep at Beazer, I was told that there was an ENT (electrical nonmetallic tubing) tube from my main breaker down to the basement and I looked for it for a whole day causing work stoppage. Later they tell me that there are junction boxes, which I found to be not helpful at all. Thank you for letting me know Beazer!
So a month passes by and no one month walk through and by now I?m very frustrated with the house. Customer sales rep doesn?t bother to call, so I call and schedule a walk through 3 months later! I tell her of some of my gripes but nothing can be done, so she says. I tell her about places where touch up paint is needed and where caulk has cracked. Caulk guy comes (I wasn?t present at the time) and just caulks a big slob of it in my master bedroom soaking tub. The caulk itself is in a different color and is not aesthetically appealing at all. Touch up paint guy never came because I totally blew my appointment. After two weeks, I notice that the new caulk that the guy put in is cracked once again. And I decided to do a better inspection and find more cracks all over the house where caulk is used. Around the windows and where ever there are tiles. The tile work in my house looks like a total amateur job. There are caulk everywhere and mistakes are found all over. The caulking around the fireplace is cracked and needs work. My tiles aren?t even flush at all, some just flat out stick out like a sore thumb. The standup shower in my master bedroom doesn?t get hot for some reason. I can turn the handle entirely to hot and the water will be good, but not hot. Some of the doors don?t close properly. Windows in the basement don?t close properly as well. Bottom line is that I should have never bough this house not getting a good inspection done. I?m a first time home buyer and didn?t know what I needed to look for. Should have also bought a house that was already built so that it would give me more room to negotiate, but had one built to my specs. Will I recommend anyone to buy a Beazer home? Never, not even to my enemies. The houses left and right have been built for 3 months and still no buyer. The only reason I bought the house was for investment and now I?m scared that I?ll have a hard time selling the house. I?ll be the happiest man in the world when I sell this house and never deal with Beazer ever again. I can?t believe that this company has been in the business for so long.
