stay away! they go by the name "atreus" now, probably so new buyers don't associate them with the garbage they made under "homelife" BEWARE.

GARBAGE! First of all, all the floors upstairs have waves in them, you feel like you're walking up a hill they're so bad. the house is drafty, some of the windows leak when it rains. they jip you on a driveway to save concrete and time a 2 car driveway bends into one as it gets to the street, so you really can only park 3 cars in there. some of the walls were actually buldging. when asked to fix it, their rep said there was nothing the company can do, but HE would fix it for a fee. come to find out that guy has been fired because he was scamming homeowners. nice, right? So upon opening up the wall, they found a pipe that was too big for the space had been put in there, causing the buldge. so they put a plastic CAP on it!! in the dining room!! it was more unsightly than the buldge. I flipped out, and guess what..they were able to fix it properly. they cut corners all over the place. our living room celiling buldges downward and when they finally came to fix it, they did a poor job and it still buldges down. we've been here over 3 years now and still have yet to sign the final paperwork saying we're satisfied. the garage and foundation has cracks all over it. landscaping is a joke, our front and back yards flood all the time, we basically get a river running through them when it rains. their sales agents were shady, touting those lovely "Arm loans" and now the neighborhood is full of foreclosures.. brining in more people who aren't cut out for home-ownership. the safety of the neighborhood has gone way down...a stray pit bull caused me to cut my walk with my infant short and we've yet to venture out in the neighborhood again. the streets are narrow as it is, and since the driveways are small most people park in the street making it hard to get around. they only incorporated the 1st phase in the homeowners association, leaving people in phases 2 and 3 stuck to deal with unruly neighbors who park their tractor-trailers in the street all the time. we're moving in a few years and i'm afraid this house won't pass inspection because it is just pure crap.

I completed this ranking of my builder to provide a warning to anyone who might be contemplating purchasing a home from Homelife Communities. While my only experience is associated with the Prestwick subdivision in Union County near Matthews NC, I am sure that Homelife Communities building is the same everywhere and that is “it sucks”. Homelife Communities is a very large builder with 85 communities across the US and 15 around Charlotte. Homelife communities hire only the lowest priced, unknowledgeable and unskilled people to build their homes. I contracted for Homelife to build a specific home, with a specific floor plan and with specific features and spent the whole experience fighting with them to get the house built correctly. They changed the floor plan, hired carpenters who could not read blue prints, substituted bad products for good ones promised. Installed Shower, cabinets, half bath sink, stair case, ceramic and wood flooring incorrectly. After purchase, the warrantee department saga begins, with improper, unskilled and poorly done repairs. My advice to anyone who is considering purchasing a Homelife Communities home, is DON’T.

I bough a new home in Southern Oaks.located in Fuquay Varina NC. It's a great house.At a great price.All new house have some problems however. Homelife fixed the problems very fast,with out any fuss.The buying process was easy,friendly,and honest. I was treated very well.And would recamend them to anyone.
