Anderson Homes is a small family-run Builder here in the Falcon area. If you want to use them as your Builder, all I can say is that you have a good Attorney to look over the Anderson Homes contract BEFORE you sign it. We (my Wife and I) didn't use an Attorney, and naturally we signed the contract because the Anderson folks seemed so nice. Anderson demanded we deed over the land we just bought to them or they wouldn't build the house. We deeded the land to them. Now Anderson had us in a contract, and had our land. We had no power over them whatsoever at that point and Anderson treated us like we were some dirt on the bottom of their shoes.
There is a lot of reasons why we don't like Anderson Homes. They don't supervise the subcontractors worth a darn. The subcontractors pretty much run free. Our house was a custom house, so having the subs run free is STUPID. And yes, the quality of the house suffered because of this. Really bone-head mistakes these guys made too. But most of the subs were good guys - they just didn't have much supervision to make sure our house was built the way we wanted it. We couldn't talk to the subs, or be there when the subs were there because of the contract.
It was a huge mistake going with Anderson Homes and we regret it big-time. We have been working on our own houses doing heavy remodeling and such for several decades and really should have been our own General Contractor instead of using a Builder anyway.
The biggest and most important lesson we learned is we need to have an Attorney read the contracts before we sign them. If a Builder has a problem with that, then you just walk away from him and find someone who is not afraid to let an Attorney see the contract.
