We had our home built in 2000 by Gene Viola because we toured several he built and he came highly recommended. The home was not ready to move in on the day we closed. The floors had paint and dirt all over them. The windows were filthy. After we completed our punch list we had several problems trying to get him to complete or correct problems. A door stuck in the back of the house and was not repair properly. We ended up selling less than 2 years later and have been involved in a lawsuit for over 3 years now. I would not recommend this builder to anyone.

Gene Viola built my house in 1999. I never had any problems with my home since. He was great to work with. I would have him build another house for me. In my neighborhood his homes do not stay on the market for more than 30 days. Viola Homes builds quality homes. We have been extremely satisfied.

I have lived in my home that was built by Gene Viola for 6 years now, and have to tell you it was the best experience that I have ever had. We were very excited about building our home and visited daily. Most of the the time Gene was there to discuss the progress that had taken place that day and the next steps that were to come. His staff was always very helpful and gave there honest opinion of picking the items that would best suit our home and needs to our family. He completed the house on time and walked through the house with us upon completion to assist in the punch list. There were only minor things to be fixed and were done in no time. Gene is also in excellent standing with the BBB and on the Board of the New Orleans Home Builders Association. We are very pleased with Gene Viola and would highly recommend Gene to build your home.

This builder is incredible. I not only had a home built by him but my daughter is now having a home built by him. The staff is available and helpful 24/7; the builder is straight forward and has an open door policy. This is a builder that any day of the week you can go in and speak with him and his Manager you can reach seven days a week. But what is even great is the quality of the home, pilings, rounded corners, cable running in the concrete, and real wood walls...it is a great house. Our move in was even better because the house was 99% finished except for a few small items and the builder had those items fixed in one week. I recommend that you do your homework, we did. Gene has an excellent rating with the BBB; his in good standing with the Chamber; if you read all of these ratings you see people raving about how good; and he gets great marks from the Builder Association.

Don't want to tell you what to do, but please take the time to find someone who has owned a home built by Viola Homes for more than a few years and ask them what they think about their home or the relationship with the builder. Others have commented as well on the time is takes to get problems addressed after you purchased the home. Do your homework. Talk with existing homeowners and also check on any legal filings that may be active right now or was settled in the past.

This being our first home, that we built, it was really important that we had a builder we could talk too. From the start to the finish we were able to get in touch with someone 24/7. The staff was very helppfful and walked us through our house many times. They even had someone help us with our color selections. The quality of the building was incredible...i brought out an inspector friend of miine and he said that our home (and the ones around it) were some of the better quality homes he has seen. Even now, since we've moved in, if something comes up with the house it is handled within days. After speaking with most of our neighbors, just about everyone loves their homes and think that this builder and his staff are excellent.

We love this builder...so we built twice! We don't normally send in anything such as this but after seeing a rating, about our builder, that we felt was false well...here we are. We have built a home TWICE with Gene Viola, in BentTree. The first (which we just sold) was when he was employeed by another contractor and the second (which we just moved in) which was by Viola Homes. Our first home was enjoyable and we sold it for a "TON" more then we bought it for. The second home was a treat from the start. When we first showed up at the model home and told (the General Manager) that we wanted to buy a home, he spent several hours with us and then told us to go home and think about it for the next two weeks. This was only the beginning of the hours, (names edited) would spend with us. We had lots of questions; we had lots of add ons; and we were a pain. But through it all, everyone at Viola Homes took care of all of our needs. Now that we've moved into our new home (of only two months) we have noticed that the same home is selling for $25,000 more! That's incredible. Because Viola Homes limits themselves to building just 40 to 50 homes a year, we are very fortunate to get in before the sell out. We would recommend these homes to anyone. Come on back to Jared or Bark any weekend and ask ANYONE about these homes and they will tell you that they are outstanding. Finally, I do not believe there are very many builders, like Gene, that have an excellent rating with the BBB; serve on all three boards of the Home builders and work so diligently and close to the community and it's Civic Association as Gene and his staff do.

I am very pleased with my home from Mr. Gene. He is a man of his word. Where we come from that is very important. Mr. Gene told me he would finish my house on time and he did. Mr. Gene told me he would make everything very good and he did. Mr. Gene said he would fix anything that is problem and he did. I have now told many of my people to find Mr. Gene when they need a new home. Everyone likes him. He keep his promises. And the house is build better then other areas we own homes in.

BEWARE. The proof is in the pudding. Come talk with anyone that has a home built by this developer in Bent Tree Estates in Marrero, Louisiana for more than 1 to 2 years and see what they will tell you about this builder. Also, I was amazed to find out this person cannot even cooperate with the civic association in this area. Simply amazing.

The builder was very unprofessional.Actually came to my house and tried to start a fight.We had to get 2 extensions on the loan because the house was not completed on time. There were numerous things wrong with the house.We pointed them out on the punch list.The builder was not willing to fix any of these problems.The builder tried to force us to act of sale before completion of the house.The builder never disclosed till the house was partially built that there was an encroachment on the property.This builder accepted a predicated loan agreement.Even though he accepted the loan agreement he now states he never intended to accept a predicated offer and has brought law suit against me.The home I was selling was built by the same contractor as an employee for a insolvent corporation.This home has numerous structural problems.These problems were pointed out by buyers as well as engineers.The contractor says he was an employee only and is not responsible for the shoddy construction.I have received estimates in excess of $30,000.00 to correct the problems on a 5 year old home.
