During the building of my home, there were a lot of
problems that the builder would not have known about
if I had not been inspecting the work on a daily basis. The builder uses subcontractors, hired as
cheap as possible. Many of them made mistakes, and
a lot of rework had to be done. If I had not been
doing the job of the construction foreman, most all
of the mistakes would have been covered up. I had to stay on top of all aspects of the work. The insulation was left off a wall of the MBR, and I told them of it before the drywall went in. The
siding was already started before I got the owner
of the company to come out and look at a hole that
I cut in the OSB to show him there was no insulation. There are also major problems with the
kitchen cabinets that were addressed six weeks before we moved in. Those problems will never be
fixed by the builder because we don't even want
"their craftsman" cabinet builder back out here.
The 4 entrance doors to the home were not installed
correctly. They have no support for the lower front
half of the entry. I will probably have to hire a
brick mason to finish this piece of shoddy workmanship. I could go on, but plan to have a
website up soon with pictures of problems that we
encountered with this outfit. One final note... The
company said that they would have a construction
foreman supervising each phase of the build. I could not count on this man to do anything when he said he would. It was so bad that I had to deal with the company owner directly to get anything
done. If you want a home built and quality is not
important to you, this is your company.
good luck
