We (my husband, two sons age one and three) moved into our Adair home in April of 2002. We were all sick, including tachycardia, stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, memory loss. Less than 4 months later we accidentally damaged a wall and found the interior extremely wet and moldy. We called the builder who had a "moisture expert" come out and say it was all our fault... too much cooking and bathing without fans. Our many experts found every foundation vent blocked, windows improperly installed, all caulking failed, and mostly the home was closed up too soon after being exposed to 9 inches of rain in one month. The molds, including stachybotrys, were all toxic levels. We moved out when my face went numb. The catch is that Adair has an arbitration clause, which we were told by our salesman applied during construction only. I have affidavits from other Adair owners backing me up. We researched the arbitrator, Construction Arbitration Services, Dallas Texas, and found they're a shill, only finding in favor of the builders. We've lost our home, all its contents, and attorneys fees so far, totally about $180,000... oh, and our health! My oldest son shows neurological problems. Please warn other consumers about Adair, which builds in Washington, Oregon and Idaho about 700 houses per year, and Construction Arbitration Services, the industry-friendly arbitrator. I'm no longer worried about being sued for slander because we have nothing, and at least my evidence would be in front of a jury! That's all we ever wanted, was a fair hearing.
