Screwed by a Shoddy Builder !

Builds to minimum code requirements (safety only), poor quality materials, lack of skilled craftsmen, failure to follow manufacturers installation guides, failure to use industry standards, zero quality control, failure to correct known warrantable issues, perjury in sworn testimony at arbitration, massive manipulation of sub-contractors, suppliers and arbitrators. Realization that Certified Professional Homebuilder is a sham designation and lacking in enforceable warranty coverage - Mandatory, binding arbitration should be outlawed in Georgia - it is a kangaroo hearing with no records kept, no logic of findings, no detail and zero accountability of arbitrators to fairness and honesty. It is a shoddy builders' paradise and system of buyer abuse ! No one should sign a purchase contract with any builder with a "mandatory binding arbitration" clause (signing gives away all legal recourse) - check Clark Howard's advice and J.D. Power's consumers surveys before contracting for a new home in Georgia.

Unfortunately we were given false information regarding "green space" area. We were also told the upgrades we requested were not available, only to find out at a later date that items we requested could have been completed. (ie. extra bathroom in foyer area). We had numerous problems with our home from bricks falling off the side walls (outside) to mortar coming off in chuncks by the fireplace. I also noticed a piece of drywall missing behind the bedroom door. I was told at the walk through that no one would ever notice. (it's hard to miss a large hole behind a door when the door is closed). The response(s) to my concerns were: "Mrs. ____, if you wanted a quality home, you should have paid a quality price." Much to my dismay, I was shocked and very disappointed at the response by the builder. Quality assurance and quality control is lacking in the Sharp Company. Quality and cost should not interfere with one another. In my opinion, Sharp does not have the customer in mind. What ever happened to the old saying, "The customer is always right?"

Poor material selection, poor craftsmanship, poor inspections, supervision and managment - great floor plans terribly built and good subdivision design. Horrible experience!

We and many other residents in our development have had issues with the builder. For the amount of money paid for our homes ($300s to $400s), we expected much better quality of workmanship. Sharp doesn't seem to care whether or not their buyers are happy with their houses and they don't take any measures after the sale to make sure we continue to be happy with our homes. They just want to get the houses sold and get out.

Some of the standard features that were present in the model house (we picked the same design) were eliminated in our house. Initially the builder refused to add these features but after argueing with him and treathening to pull out of the contract, he added them.
