I have been living in my new $700,000 plus home for seven months. For the last four months I,ve been trying to get my home repaired.I signed my sales contract two years ago,the home is presently worth $900,000.I have 3,500 sq. ft. of hardwood floors that the builder has to replace, they agreed that they had to do it 3 months ago, yet it is still not done.my foundation leaks,my brick landing at the front door has been redone three times and still needs to be redone yet again for a fourth time. They replaced my duct work in the house because it had an 1/8 inch of dirt and sheetrock caked to the inside of it.My siding has to be replaced, all my glass doors are scrathed up and must be replaced,I have one cracked hardwood step tread, two cracked exterior shutters, all my trim work looks like it was installed by blind man,the driveway has to be recut and asphalted, one of my fire places is 3 inches off center (4 inches from the window on the left and 7 inches from the window on the right),my foundation was originally poored incorrectly,my settlement was 2 months late,my vertical lolly column is completly unfastened to my horizontal I-BEAM,the yard has sink holes through the sod,my refrigerator door is scrathed,in all three bathrooms I have cracked tile,my windows shake and rattle ,my sheetrock got wet during construction and 3 walls and two ceilings had to be ripped out and of course the least of my fears are the nail pops. The funny thing is ,the buider agreed with all of this 3 months ago but has not been in my home in the last 2 months.I had two dead trees in my backyard woods, the house sits on one acre,I told the regional superintendent that I wanted them removed, that one might fall on one of my 4 daughters ages 1,3,5,and15.He told me he really could not do anything about the trees unless I gave him a good review on his performence sheet, this would allow him to recieve a bonus from corporate. At that point I was ready beat somebody senseless. On two occasions the builder sent workers in to my home to do trim repairs and left nails laying all over the place, please note my daughters go barefoot in the house. The last incident with the nails was 15 on my kitchen floor.Three weeks ago I told the builder that I wanted my scope of repair work to be written done schedualed with when, who and how.I still wait for a response.I will never buy a WASHINGTON HOME again and as soon as I can sell this "production house" and dodge capital gains I will be gone. This is the third new home I have had built and there is no comparison,if your looking to buy a new home in Maryland check out "kOCH" HOMES,I NEVER should have moved. My advise if your allready locked in with Washington Homes is DOCUMENT EVERYTHING and good luck. You can reach me at 410-523-3300 from 8 to4 weekdays, ask for London.
