Ihave never dealt with such a Home Builder let alone have purchased such a horrible product in the housing industry. The home closed on December 23, 2004. DR Horton already puts all of the upgrades into there homes as they are spec'd in the very beginning by their own Salespeople. We ended up paying $441,114.00 With about $85k in upgrades. We had pretty much chosing the floor. The total amunt of the flooring cost us $18,000. for a 2350 sq ft house. {Pretty ridiculous}. However all of DR Hortons buyers are completely forced into using their in-house lender {DHI Mortgage} And the main reason this is: So that DR Horton can use their own Appraisers!!! They don't have Appraisal review like a normal bank because WHY? Oh DR Horton IS THE BANK!!! I tried to refinance 1 week later. Guess What my house is worth $365,000. I called several Appraisers. They said they don't know how this house was legally sold for this amount to someone who got 100% financing! Also NV Power had an easement on all houses that backed up to Losee. I asked the Saleperson about it and sure enough they did not disclose this to anyone so ALL of the people who were in contract got out!! Then all of a sudden the easements went away. So I bought the house and 4 months later NV Power issues the easement! HOW CONVENIENT DR HORTON!!!!! To top this off in August 2004 I noticed a water stain on the ceiling in the kitchen. So my husband went up into the attic to check it out. He saw a busted pipe to the AC unit and put some Duck Tape on it to stop it temporarily until the AC technician could fix the problem permanently. We took pictures of the MOLD that had begun to form! The Warranty Dept. let us know today August 29, 2004 that they are going to cease any and all warranty work on this property!! With no answer as to why

After moving in the house in late October 2003, the extra bathroom wall started getting wet and soft in late January, early February, the baseboard was ruined and the tile floor started coming up. After many complaints they sent over a plummer who charged $65 and we were told it was not a plumbing problem. That was the beginning of February. This has been going on since then. They finally came in and replaced the shower door which had a problem from the start but now say that since the wall and floor were not pointed out during the walk through in October, they are not covered under the warrenty and they will not lift a finger to fix anything. This is not a good quality builder - or a builder who wants to keep his good reputation. This house is just a year old and things still need to be fixed. They continuously blame the problems on my son who lives there and pays the mortgage and homeowner fees. It's so easy to blame this a man who is 25 than take responsibility yourself or blame your own staff. I would NEVER buy another DR Horton Home
