The comments previously made in this forum closely match my issues. More to the point Seagate appears to strong arm and bully the customers moments after they close on their building contract. They tell you waht they will do with your monet and you have no choices in the matter. After reviewing the contract with an attorney after signing we realized our ignarance which Seagate capitalized upon. They also use misleading marketing materials that lead one to believe that quality materials will be used in the construction of customers homes when instead contractor grade materials are instead used. Their prices are equal or more than a careful and uality custum builder after the finaly tally of costs is done. Avoid Seagate at all costs based on my opinion.

During the construction of our home, we came by and checked the progress on a daily basis. At times many weeks went by without changes. When progress occured, we generally found poor workmanship and addressed these problems with the Seagate representative. For the most part these were corrected in time. We ultimately closed on the house on the 28th of December 2004. When we came in the workmen were putting doors up, hardware in, the painters were scarping walls and making an incredible mess on the new carpet. It took over three months to get our kitchen completed. New cabinets, countertops, and hardware as well as the bathrooms. We are of the opinion that Seagate is for profit only and does not care about its customers. The sub contractors hired are at the lowest end of the spectrum and ususally perform shoddy work. I would never recommend Seagate as a builder to anyone.

Be very aware is my best advice if you choose Seagate Homes. We contracted for our house in September of 2003 while we were still living in Pennsylvania. Our salesperson was and has been wonderful. I would not want to take any credit from him. Our construction began in February or March of 2004. We were told while we were still in PA that things were going very smooth and construction would be done by the end of September. Employment issues caused us to move at the end of June into a rental home for a few months. Come to find out that things were not going smooth at all. The trusses were delivered in April and no one worked on the house from May until July after many arguments with Seagate. Then we got a few days of work and then 3 weeks of nothing. To make things worse, we insisted the trusses be replaced because of sitting out in weather for so long. They said "no", put them up, the inspector said to replace almost all of them, and then . . . They knowkced them all down. More delays because of having to replace the trusses. After again arguing over and over, we are in December and our house was supposed to be completed by the 15th of this month. They called to say our closing date would be 12/22/04. Three days before Christmas!! With family coming! I asked them to empathize . . . guess what? No one cares. In fact, I get told there are "repercussions" if I do not close on this date. This is apparently what Seagate does . . . "you build with us and then do it our way or we sue you." I told them to get their best lawyer. I have no issue going up against some rich guy who wouldn't haven't gotten anywhere in this world without Daddy handing it to him. I work for what I have. The CEO was handed the company from his father who built the company from the ground up, and like any spoiled kid . . . he has no care except for what he's getting. If you want to give your money to a company who feels they are doing you a favor by buildling your home and want to be needing therapy by the end of it all . . . Seagate is for you. One of these days maybe Seagate will figure out that the clients pay their paychecks, and it is the clients doing them the favor.

Buyer beware- their motto ought to be "Cheap homes, cheaply built". We have pieces of wood framing protruding through the driveway surface- Many ridges and bumps in the vinyl kitchen and bath floors (conveniently not covered in warranty). Lot poorly graded, so we have standing water after even little or moderate rain-our foreman quit mid-job and we were left in dark when work came to a halt. I am comfortable saying if you buy a SeaGate home, you'll be disappointed down the road. Bank on it.

It took Seagate 15 month to build our house and they lied to us countless times and at times were very rude to us.The end product is nice. Costumer service sucks though.

The house was not even finished but according to the contract, once they received a C.O. from the City, we were obligated to close upon their notice. Guess what? 30 days after closing and they haven't even touched the house. We're living in a house that's not finished and (edited) have our money.
