We signed our contract with the Ashland division of Schumacher Homes in December 2003. We received our keys in November 2004. We have had numerous problems with our house/builder since that date. They try to band-aid any issue there is or pass the buck and blame it on people whom are no longer with the company. Our first problem was in December 2004, our sunroom roof leaked, damaging the drywall, carpet, mouldings, paint etc. Our finished/fixed product is a large crack that keeps re-appearing, even after they fixed it. Our drywall was nailed on instead of drywall screwed in. (they never fixed and avoided the subject) Our vaulted ceiling in the living roon did not have insullation in it for the first winter. (After 4 propane fills they finally resolved it) The Three pannel door in the sunroom leaks air and is buckled, they caulked and nailed, but it looks bad. Our grading is wrong, we still have pink from the waterproofing showing. ( they say its done correctly) Also we have a river/moat around our house when it rains. Our house is built into the ground and not up high enough. We have been arguing about the basement leaking, even after they repaced the front porch Fall 2005, thinking that the problem would be solved, we still have water in the basement June 2006. Our drain in the garage as of June 2006 still backs up when it rains. My Husband has been fixing and hiring people to fix the minor problems so we know that they will be fixed properly. These issues are only the tip of the iceburg that we have had with this builder. Our sales person, construction manager, and the first warranty person (in Canton) whom we dealt with are no longer employed with the company. The new warranty person ( in Ashland) and repairman will not contact the Canton division to resolve or look into any of the issues. We are made to feel like its our problem that our house was built wrong. We didn't hire the subs, they did.

Why weren?t the following standard features, which are also a part of the builders contract with the home buyer followed in the building of my home? This is not only a breach of contract. It is also fraud for them to advertise something they do not deliver! CONTRACT STATES- Drywall screwed and glued 1/2" on walls, 5/8" on ceilings and garage Meets all codes and gives a finished look to your garage. All trusses are 2? on center so the heavier ceiling board is important. The antique knock-down finish of the custom textured ceilings speak to the quality of your home. MY HOME HAS NO GLUE HOLDING DRYWALL TO CEILINGS, ALSO NOT ALL WALLS HAVE BEEN GLUED. *Drywall Lack of glue in installation of drywall unacceptable. (None on Ceiling drywall also not all walls were glued) This will be a constant problem throughout the life of this home. (Not done to contract specs) . Builders standard features - 8' poured concrete foundation walls with steel re-bar reinforcing 8' Poured Concrete Walls are a very popular way of doing basements around the country. Your basement walls are formed and reinforced with vertical and horizontal rebar and then poured with solid concrete. This is much stronger than a block foundation. The Poured Wall Foundation will have two vinyl basement windows (with screens). MY HOME HAS NO VERTICAL REINFORCMENT IN 8? HIGH BASEMENT WALLS. *Staining of trim and interior doors not done as per contract Three different color stains delivered and used at the home. Resulting in multiply applications of stains in an attempt to make Trim and doors look uniform. It seems this builder feels that if the homeowner can not see a standard feature, builder doesn?t need to actually carry through with the promise to build the home they say that they are going to build? These are just three of the problems encountered with this builder. Many items were documented as well throughout the building of our home.
