How Richmond American turned our dream home into a nightmare.

The concrete on the drive way was never fixed. The drawers in kitchen fell apart, they were never fixed. Took them 3 days to fix tub in downstairs bathroom. Water wouldn't drain, and I had a baby in the house to worry about. There are so many things that we the owners of the house had to fix. They never kept us informed on the progress of the home. We had to continually call them. House was not completed even remotley close to the original date they gave us. The builder did nothing to see that we, the customer, and home owners were satisfied. I would never recommend Richmond American to any one.

This has been the worse home buying experience that I have ever had. One of the reasons I bought a Richmond American Home is because they had such a great reputation for building quality homes. This whole experience has left me shocked, dumbfounded, and ready to provide my feedback based on this experience with anybody who brings up Richmond American and/or are planning to buy a new home themselves. I closed on my house in November 2005. Five months later I am still having items fixed and replaced. Below is a partial list of the items that I have had to witness with the building of my home & request that it gets fixed: ** Final Walkthrough Experience** ? No appliances installed (Stove, Microwave or Dishwasher) ? No Flood-light installed in back yard ? Bullet hole through Main Living room window ? Island counter top needed to be replaced ? Kitchen light missing ? Bow in the Kitchen wall ? No insulation in the wall of the pantry ? AC Power never ran on outside wall for air condition units. So, someone made a bunch of holes in the exterior wall outside to find it. I believe AC Power should have been run first? ? Kick light in pantry needed to be fixed ? door and 75% of the windows had bent tracking ? All baseboards needed to be re-caulked ? All light bulbs needed to be installed ? To many wall patches to list ? Master Shower not completed ? No water pressure ? No hot water ? All Closet sliding doors needed to be replaced ? No doorbell installed ? Backyard cement pillars for patio not complete ? House was a mess- isn?t your house supposed to be spotless on a final walk through? ** Post Close Experience** ? No light installed in downstairs bathroom hallway ? They had to fix all upstairs electrical. None of the outlets worked ? Covered up the backyard speaker volume control in the wall ? When turned on the Master bathroom fan spit out insulation. To this day, when fan is turned on it smells like something is burning ? Water heater needed to be replaced. ? Chain light in Formal living room was hanging by the electrical chord and not the chain links. Also, the light was about 20 feet off the ground. ? Multiple times to patch outside of house. There are still many holes on outside of house, with chicken wire sticking out and non-painted patches. This whole house needs to be externally re-patched and fully re-painted I have had to use all my vacation time to meet construction and warranty people when it is convenient for them.
