I signed the purchase agreement April 1, 2006.
We were badgered from August 2006 until October 2006 to close on our home and they weren't even 1/4 completed on September 18 they rushed with so many workmen everywhere to get it done. There is no way they could have done a good job. When we were being given the bum's rush by the present President of Ray Murphy homes we knew something was up.
The brick overhangs the foundation over 2 inches, the home according to Ray Murphy's Professional Engineer is not square diagonally, the home was not built according the purchased plan, the roof leaked which present President, the son, failed to disclose which could enhance the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria, weight bearing boards show through the registers are twisted, split and not vertical, the shower or the whirlpool leak caused the family drywall to be cut out to find the leak, cracks in the garage floor and driveway.
They put in a gas line for the cooktop and a pantry light which we did not want, both of which can cause a fire if not installed properly this is another safety issue. The cabinets are held to the wall by one screw, security safety integrity is another issue.
There are other defects that we could write volumes about but won't here. As of November 12, 2006 the builder was still trying to force us to close on this home and now he is also going after us for "damages" We in good faith paid the deposit and the 10% deposit which was before one could even get close enough to look at the home and before the brick was put on the home as well as putting in our lights that we desired for our home. This builder has taken our deposits, lights, dimmers, etc. He has stolen these items from us as well as our dream. We are an elderly couple in our 80's and to go through this at our age is despicable.
We would like to enlighten those who might be considering a Ray Murphy Home and we invite you please to contact us. We wish now that we had known about this site before we had a home built with Ray Murphy Homes also doing business as Gilchrest Farms, LLC and additional LLC's too.
