1970 John Wieland begins building in Atlanta using a Volkswagen Bug for his office and materials delivery truck.

1977 The company opens the area's first ever Design Center making it easy for homebuyers to make their interior and exteriors selections.

1981 Open floor plans, spa baths and sun porches are introduced into the Atlanta marketplace by pioneer John Wieland.

1982 Our Family of Companies grows to include nearly every homebuying service needed to build better homes and neighborhoods.

1991 John Wieland expands into the southeast market by first building in Charleston. Soon to follow are Charlotte, Raleigh and Nashville.

1996 Out of 110,000 builders across the nation, John Wieland is voted the National Builder of the Year by his peers in the industry.

2000 John Wieland celebrates his 30th year of excellence by providing his homeowners with the new Wieland 5-20 Warranty, homebuilding's best.

2002 Jim and Darlene Hanson close their third John Wieland home and become the company's 20,000th homeowners.

2004 JWH&N is awarded the Consumers' Choice Award "Best In Class" for Atlanta Homebuilders and Atlanta Residential Real Estate Companies.

2004 John Wieland is inducted into Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business Hall of Fame.

2005 John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods is chosen America's Best Builder 2005 by BUILDER Magazine and the National Association of Homebuilders.

2006 John Wieland is named the 2006 Four Pillar Honoree by the Atlanta Council for Quality Growth for his commitment to quality, responsibility, vision and integrity in growth.
